Wrinkle Reduction and Skin Rejuvenation

WHY DO WE GET WRINKLES?

The fundamental change in the appearance of wrinkles is the aging of the skin: as we become older, the fibrous structure of the epidermis (outer layer) looses its integrity. As a result, the skin tone falls and the skin appears to be too loose.

In some areas of the face, the development of wrinkles is further enhanced by a number of factors. The predominant cause is the action of the muscles we use to make facial expressions; this leads to deep wrinkles in a number of key areas (the corners of the eyes, the forehead, etc.). In other areas of the face, the thinning or stretching of fatty areas has a visible effect – such changes are most apparent in the area between the nose and the mouth as well as the wrinkles around the mouth.
